Goodbye East

Dear East Elementary,

I want to say goodbye because I will now move on to Goddard. I wish all the teachers here good luck on their days and the students to to to get a BUG award and have good grades in school. 5th grade was pretty fun because sometimes Mr.Moore will tell jokes and we would all laugh. Mrs.V was pretty nice to because she bought us Ice cream and and gave us some and we had a mini party with Mr.Moore too. I say good bye to Mrs.Card Because she was very helpful and respectful to all the students. Mrs.Bailey to because she told us how to be respectful and not to bully other people. All the other teachers were helpful and kind to us so again I'd like to say goodbye and have a great summer to the students and the teachers. Also, thank you for helping us learn a lot about lots of stuff and helped us learn different games outside thanks to Mrs.Oliver and Mrs.Anderson for Recces duty. Punishment for kids

Dear Readers,

                                Kids should not get Spanked

I have recently finished the article called "Spanking Students may be banned in Missouri" and its about students getting spanked. There are these 5th, grade students that get spanked. 5th, grade students should not get spanked because its bad and they get hurt. To add on, the 5th, grade students may never want to go to school again. Keaveny never used corporal punishment herself - but she knows there are teachers across the state who do. She wants it to stop.

Students were getting spanked along time ago

Lot's of students are getting punished. Students do not like getting hurt but in some school they still spank students and those students do get hurt. The move away from corporal punishment is happening across the country. For the 2009-2010 school year, about 184,500 were physically punished, compared with about 223,000 in the 2005-2006 school year.

                                                             Keaveny wants it to stop

Keaveny wants to stop teachers from hitting students. Keaveny was is telling the truth because teachers should not be hitting students. "We need to stop hitting our students" Keaveny said. Teachers should stop hitting students no matter what and its very bad so if I were a teacher I would not spank students. Again they may not want to come back to school and move away to a better place and school.

To Little or to Much?

Dear Readers,

I have recently just finished the article called "To Little or to Much". I thought about the article of something else but it was about homework. It talks about homework and how much each student thinks if they had a little homework or to much. They also take a survey that asks them questions. I will now tell you my big ideas from the article.

My first big idea was homework and the text of the article said "The homework load has been pretty stable the last 20 or 30 years. My thinking was that homework helps students learn at home then just at school and can also study for something at their house if they have problems with something in class.

My next big idea is about working hard. The text says (NAEP) student survey, a MetLife annual survey of parents and students, and a UCLA survey. I thought that if you do your homework and work hard you will get the answers right. What I thought is that if you work hard when you do your homework then you will get most of the answers right but if you don't work hard then you will get most of the answer wrong.

My last big idea is about a survey and the text says "(NAEP) student survey, a MetLife annual survey of parents and students, and a UCLA survey". My idea is that a survey is like a test but it tells you questions about how much homework you had yesterday or something else. Those are my big ideas from the article.

The Award is for...

Dear Neftaly,

I will give you the "Explaining award". I will give you this award because from the blog post you posted called "Stink Bugs are a Bummer". I liked that blog post because you explained your thinking from the book or article. I liked it when you said stink bugs can make brownish spots on peaches or apples. I have one question, how do they make the brownish spot and what is a stink bug? Also you got a big juicy paragraph that explains all of your thinking and how you explain your thinking makes sense. I think people would like to read what you have written. Also maybe somebody would like to read the book or article. This is the award I will give you.

Diary of the Wimpy Kid "Hard Luck"

Dear Readers,

I have recently finished the book called Diary of the Wimpy Kid "Hard Luck". In the beginning of this book A kid named Greg is saying that he and his family were not sure all of them were not meant to live together. When Greg goes to school its even worse because his best friend called Rowley has a girl friend called Abgail. Abgail is the one who hangs out with Rowley most often. Greg wants Rowley back because it is not the same without him. To add on, once Rowley had a sleep over at Greg's house but Rowley was talking on the phone with Abgail. Greg asked Rowley if he liked the new movie but He said "Oh we didn't care for that one. Greg felt bad and lonely so he went to the find a friend station. So he pressed on the red button and Mr. Nern felt bad for Greg so he went to go play with him. Greg felt bored at the moment. After that, every time Greg and Rowley pass through this house a dog starts chasing them when they go to school. The dog is a rottweiler and his name is Rebel. The owner of the dog put a shock collar because he bites everybody. They do not say the name of the owner.  Greg and Rowley fool around with him and act like cats. After that there are these mingo kids that live in the woods and their leader is Meckley Mingo. Greg is always going pasting through the woods and the mingo kids don't like it and they start to warn him that meckley is gonna get him. Then Greg didn't know what to do so he had to go the other side of the street which didn't have a sidewalk because there was a construction zone and he said it won't be good for his rolling bag. I hope you can read the rest of the book.
